The fruit mash is essential for the production of juice, spice or must. This fruit mill can be used for grinding berries, grapes, apples, pears or similar soft fruits, possibly also for soft vegetables. Hard fruits and vegetables such as sugar beets, carrots or unripe or hard pome are not suitable to be processed with this mill.
Particularly suitable for the processing are apples, pears, quinces and similar fruits. The relatively firm pulp is crushed by the fruit mill; the resulting mash increases the yield of juice and makes possible the pressing of fruit.
Grapes, raspberries, currents and similar fruits just like stone fruits should not be processed. Usually, this is not necessary, since the pulp is very soft surrounded by a thin layer of skin only. Pomes contained in the fruits release bitter substances during the process of grinding which colour the juice a dark brown.
A perfect juice quality is achieved, when on only healthy and ripe fruit is processed. Unripe, overripe, rotten and damaged fruits are to be discarded. Fruits which have spots or are infected with mold fungus must not be processed, either. This does not concern any fresh pressure spots on fruits that recently have fallen as long as they have not yet been rotted. The fruit should be cleaned with drinking water before being processed in order to avoid any dirt to get into the mash.
With this shredder made of wood, the perfect consistency of the substance to be grinded is achieved. The large funnel has a capacity of 7 liters; the fruit to be crushed is simply put in the wooden funnel. The solid cutting device (aluminium alloy) is driven by a hand crank which disposes of an ergonomically shaped wooden handle.
The apparatus has the dimension: 50 cm x 31 cm x 20 cm, the weight is 8 kg.
All parts belonging to the grinding device are easily and hygienically cleaned.
