The smoke alarm is a so-called photoelectric smoke detector and works with optical sensors. The chamber of the unit regularly emits light beams. In normal condition, i.e. without air-borne smoke particles, the emitted light does not hit the lens of the receiver. In case of smoke development due to a smouldering fire etc., the emitted light is scattered and a part is reflected to the lens, triggering an audible 85 dB alarm.
The fire detector is equipped with a test button to check that the device is working properly. If the battery should run low, the smoke alarm sounds a regular warning tone. These fire protection devices are certified according to the European product standard EN 14604: 2005/AC: 2008.
The scope of delivery includes 120 smoke alarms.
